            SENIOR QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST:
            This senior level position will provide support to the head of the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Department, by proposing and implementing process improvements and maintaining and improving various quality system processes.

            Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
            - Quality Management System (QMS) Processes: Monitors and improves existing QMS processes
            to streamline and ensure compliance. Generates relevant metrics for these
            processes and reports to management. Administers some QMS processes.

            - Internal Auditing: Responsible for lead auditor activities. May audit both
              internal and external processes, including supplier audits.

            - Product Quality Assurance: Develop test and inspection plans; and assures product test
            requirements align with product performance and labeling claims. Assists in
            product trouble shooting plans.

            - Customer Complaints and Technical Service: Develops and generate relevant metrics and trending. Works with vendors for
            products which Alere distributes and Alere Scarborough supplies technical
            support. May assist the Technical Services Lead in her/her responsibilities and
            may interface with external partners for the products supported. Supports field
            actions as required.

            - Risk Analysis: Maintains product risk files post launch, facilitating FMEAs and other risk evaluation sessions as required.

            - Design Control: Responsible for ensuring that new products and product changes
            are inmplemented into the QMS, and may assist the department head in review and
            approval of design control requirements.

            - Qualifications and Validations: May review qualifications, validations, and other studies for technical content,
            statistical rationale, risk and clarity. May act as the Quality Assurance
            representative for approvals of qualifications and validations of production
            equipment.

            - May lead cross departmental or cross site teams


            Education and or Experience:
            - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Chemistry, Bio-technology, Life Science or related discipline.
            - Three to five years experience with a manufacturing company, preferably a
              medical device or biotech company in a quality or regulatory function.
            - Quality Auditor Certification (CQA) preferred.

            Job Qualifications/requirements:
            - Proficient in the use of Database
            software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing
            software.
            - Working knowledge and experience with FDA cGMPs/QSR, and ISO
            Quality system requirements Auditing experience preferred.

            Prime Responsibilities and Major Factors in Evaluating Performance - May perform one or more of the following duties:
            - Assist manager, engineers, Black Belts, and Green Belts, in all six-sigma endeavors, including corrective actions.
            - Perform final product source inspection and maintain records as mandated by customer quality requirements.
            - Perform internal audit dock audits and maintain records as mandated by customer quality requirements.
            - Perform internal manufacturing and inspection procedural audits and external supplier product and facility audits as assigned to assure adequate control.

            - Perform APQP, PFMEA, Flow Diagram, Control Plan and SPC activities, including interface with customers as requested.
            - Review reported first article inspection results, prepare MRB approval paperwork as appropriate and discuss with customer as required to obtain approval.
            - Perform Measurement System Analysis, capability studies (preferably using Minitab), Design of Experiments, in evaluating first article inspection results
            - Develop internal manufacturing and receiving inspections to ensure a high level of performance from suppliers and/or subcontractors.
            - Perform actions define by customers to complete product manufacturing documentation and prepare paperwork to obtain customer approval as required
            - Must have a working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO/TS16949 and AS9100 as applicable.
            - Perform internal audits per ISO/TS16949 and AS9100 quality standards (system and manufacturing process audits, layered process audit …) as applicable.
            - Review nonconforming material (independent or in conjunction with engineering) to determine rework, request for deviation or scrap is the  most appropriate course of action.
            - Initiate and/or investigate corrective action on problems arising in the manufacture of products using problem solving disciplines (8D discipline preferred).
            - Make recommendations to product engineering to improve quality of products and/or process.
            - Perform industrial engineering assignments of a medium degree of complexity, involving the application of engineering principles to perform analysis and evaluation in
            support of plant engineering activities. Prepare plans and specifications for equipment, test equipment and tooling. Conduct analysis of methods and time standards.
            - Evaluate findings and prepare reports, graphs, charts and data reflecting the results, conclusions and recommendations.
            - Must be capable of delivering on commitments in a timely and efficient manner.
            - May lead specific and targeted product and/or process improvement efforts. 

            Additional Responsibilities:
            1. May be involved in training and developing less experienced technical personnel.
            2. Observe the Hitchiner code of conduct, safety and quality principles.

            4. Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.

            Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
            - Bachelor’s Degree in engineering.
            - 5-7 years or equivalent knowledge / experience.

            - Computer literacy is a must, including competency in general MS Office applications, technical computer modeling and statistical tools.
